About this Privacy PolicySocialight cares about your privacy. This privacy policy details the measures taken by Socialight to protect your privacy in connection with the Socialight service. To enrich our members experience, we request and display some personal information to other members and visitors, which allows our users to identify each other and expand their network of contacts. Socialight members can change their profile information at any time and can control how other members and the service communicates with them.
This privacy policy is incorporated into and is subject to the Socialight Terms Of Use. If you do not agree to the terms of this privacy policy or the Terms Of Use, please do not use Socialight.
What This Policy Covers
This privacy policy covers the use of Socialight services, including its web site at http://socialight.com, its mobile applications, and via third-party applications that use the Socialight Application Programming Interface (API).
This privacy policy covers the ways Socialight treats personal information. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable such as your name, address, email address, phone number and physical locations.
Children under 13 are not permitted to use the Socialight service. This privacy policy makes no provision for children's use of the site.
Information Collection and Use
Socialight collects personal information when you register with Socialight to use its services.
When registering, you provide your email address, mobile phone number and certain other information.
Socialight records information in our server logs, including your IP address, cookies, and the data and pages you request.
Socialight uses information for the following general purposes:
- products and services provision,
- billing,
- identification and authentication,
- services improvement,
- contact,
- research, (and)
- anonymous reporting.
Location Information
When using Socialight, you may actively or passively (using GPS, or software that automatically updates your location or via location information provided by a third party) inform Socialight of your location. Socialight collects this information to provide and improve service. If you do not wish to inform Socialight of your location, do not use Socialight.
We never disclose your present or past location to any party that unless you have given your consent. Your current and past locations are disclosed to other users when you actively attach a message to a location, such as when creating a Sticky Note. In this case, your past or present location is disclosed to the people you consented to in the privacy settings when creating the Sticky Note. Your current or past location may also be shared with specific users, for example your Contact List, if and only if, you have consented to share this information with them.
If you are a member of another location based service, Socialight may, with your consent, share your location with that service in order to provide you integrated service.
Aggregate location information (not tied to a specific user) may be retained for analysis for the purposes of reporting and/or improving service.
UK Carrier Location Service
If you use Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile or O2, you don't need to tell us where you are, you can ask us to work it out. We do this by locating your handset using your network provider's location services.
When you access Socialight by sending a text message to shortcode 88811, we'll check where you are and send you a list of all the Sticky Notes around you. Similarly, on our WAP pages, you can select 'find me' instead of manually entering an address to tell us where you are.
The first time you use this service we will send you an SMS asking for your consent to be located in this way.
This is an active service, we do not locate your phone without your knowledge and we use this information to provide you with service, we do not share it with any other users without your express consent.
If you use Socialight in the UK, via our shortcode 88811, you agree to be located by your carrier. i.e. you consent for Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone or O2 to release their location data about your handset to Socialight, for the provision of the service.
Please note that the service accuracy can vary depending on the user's situation. i.e. city vs. country location.
Socialight has the right to suspend or terminate this Service
Account Information
You can change your Socialight account information at any time.
You can delete your Socialight account at any time from your account page or a request to customer service; however, please note that your identification, billing and contact information may remain in Socialight's records for some period.
We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.
Your Socialight account information is password-protected. Employees of Kamida do not have access to your password.
IP Addresses
IP Addresses are automatically reported by your browser each time you view a web page.
IP addresses may be used for various purposes, including:
To diagnose or service technology problems reported by our users or engineers that are associated with the IP addresses or controlled by a specific web company or internet service provider.
To customize advertising based on geographic area or other information derived from your IP address. Aggregate information derived from IP addresses (not tied to a specific user) may also be reported to advertisers.
To estimate the total number of users visiting Socialight from specific geographical regions.
Cookies
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive.
You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set.
If you reject all cookies, you may not be able to use Socialight products or services that require you to sign in, and you may not be able to take full advantage of the Socialight service.
Socialight uses its own cookies for a number of purposes, including to:
- Access your information when you sign in.
- Keep track of preferences you specify while you are using Socialight's services.
- Display the most appropriate content, based on your interests and activity on Socialight.
- Estimate and report our total audience size and traffic.
- Conduct research to improve Socialight's content and
services.
Links
Socialight content often links to other sites. Kamida is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. This privacy policy only governs information collected via the Socialight service.
Information Sharing
We may share information and content collected with third parties in order to improve the service we provide.
We do not rent or sell your personally identifying information to other companies or individuals, unless we have your consent. We may share such information in any of the following limited circumstances:
- We have your consent. In these cases, it will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply.
- We conclude that we are required by law to disclose such information.
- We may share aggregated information with others.
Changes to this Policy
- Socialight may update this policy at any time for any reason. You may wish to review this policy from time to time.
- If we deem that there are significant changes to how we handle personal information we will send a notice to the primary email address specified in your Socialight account or by placing a prominent notice on our site.
